Appropriate Clothing [13 Aug 2009|12:38pm]

My significant other is considering attending Sunday Services again after several years away from the church. While I am not LDS, I support his decision and would be interested in attending with him as I feel it would be a great way to strengthen our relationship. The only thing i am worried about is what i should wear to services. I was raised part of a nondenominational christian congregation, and our services and attire were somewhat casual. As a modern, fashion savvy woman, what clothing options should I consider for services?

Ah, hi. I am a non-LDS member, but I am currently dating an LDS member, things are getting more serious as time goes on, but the other night I wanted to take him out along with my brother so he could meet some of my family, I was telling him a little bit about my sibling (who I am extremely close to) and my brother is homosexual, and he refused to go out to dinner with my brother & I.
Is there some rule against socializing with homosexuals/lesbians/bisexuals? I was extremely bothered by this.

hiii my name's sara, and i'm in a bit of a dilema.

i'm 16, he's 16. i'm not religious whatsoever, and he's mormon.

last night was homecoming, and my extremely close friend, Matt took me. we've been flirting like CRAZY and all those who have been around us an compleatly tell. today is actually my 16th birthday, so at midnight last night (after the dance) matt told me to make a birthday wish. when he asked me what it was, i told him that i couldn't tell him, or it wouldn't come true. we ended up going for a walk together and were out until about 1 in the morning. we stood in a parking lot for a while, standing very very very close haha. so the entire time he was trying to guess what my wish was. finally, he got it right and we ended up kissing. it was nothing horribly spectacular, but it was just what i had wished for.

but now the problem arises that i have absoloutly NO IDEA where this whole thing is headed. it wasn't ackward at all, but i'm not so sure about the whole mormons dating non mormons thing. he's had one previous girlfriend, but i don't know if she was mormon or not.

:/ so, i'm just kind of confused. in no way do i want to disrespect his faith, but i also really like this kid. any advice would be AMAZING :) thank you!

A question for you all. I just joined the comunity and yesterday decided to accept the propets challenge of reading the book of mormon. So Im on ch. 2 of 1 nephi. Im a convert of 2 years. I was talking aboutt he gospel yesterday for FHE and on 1 nephi 2:15 "And my father dwelt in a tent".

What does this have to do with anything that was said before or after. Just curious really..and something to ponder..any ideas do tell.

I'm new, I just posted my first question...then I thought "gee, I need to introduce myself too, how rude of me". I'm Erin. 24, single mother of a 2 year old.
I'm taking the lessons from the missionaries.

I grew up LDS. Defeated, in other words, I left, officially by written letter, when I was 18. I realized how smart I THOUGHT I was then....ha. Yeah right. I knew so little... with the help of my parents and family I decided to see the missionaries..and have done so for a few months. One day I realized I needed to be baptised again. So..Im' waiting for that.

Questions [08 Aug 2005|07:03pm]

I'm having trouble with D&C 132. Mostly verse 20, and the verses about
polygamy (55-66 I think).
How can God say to his prophet to once say
polygamy was ok and part of the process of getting to the highest degree of
glory, then declare it forbidden and anyone who does so will be excommunicated
(as in the Official Declaration 1)?? I also notice that in the Book of Mormon it
says man will have one wife and only one, or it would be adultery.

noticed also that before the polygamy verses in section 132 that it has a little
information to Emma Smith, to be obediant to her husband through whatever may
come. This. sounds.....off. Sort of a premeditated thing.

Comments? Any
thoughts about this will greatly be appreciated.
I'm not trying to down the
church or anything, I really do want to understand and be rebaptised, but this
is something that is hard to jump over.

Polygamy [27 Jul 2005|07:40am]

[ mood | curious ]

Hi :) Me again. I just have a question that has been floating around in my mind for a while. I've tried to find answers, but nothing really complete has come up.

Can someone please explain why the early Latter Day Saints practised polygamy? Did joseph Smith practise it?
Will we be asked to practise it in the future?

Was/Is the Saviour married? [07 Jul 2005|08:41am]

Hi :) My name is Maria and I just joined this wonderful community. I'm a convert to the church of about 6 years and I always have loads of questions that sometimes I don't know where to go to ask so hopefully you guys can help me:)

It might be a weird question, but does anyone know if the Saviour was married in this life or is he married now? Or will he be married later? It's just that I've heard people say that Heavenly Father has a wife, so then the Saviour must have one also right? Also, a few years ago when I was a new convert a missionary told me that he thought that Mary Magdelene was his wife as she was the one he appeared to first when he was resurected. Is there an official church stance on this?

Thanks for your help guys.
(oh and despite my user name I am actually from Australia, people always ask me so I thought I'd let you know first.Utahsaint are actually a band from the UK from the early 90's)

New [21 May 2005|12:27am]

[ mood | curious ]

Hi everyone, I'm new. I'm not Mormon but two very good friends of mine who passed away this year were, and it's got my best friend interested in talking to the Elders in her neighborhood.

My question is this, I know that the elders aren't allowed to be alone with any one of the opposite sex but what happens if they really like each other? I mean, aren't there any rules that allow innocent things like going for walks? I think a large part of why she wants to get to know him better is because he reminds her of one of the boys that passed away.

Welcome! [29 Apr 2005|01:07pm]

[ mood | content ]

The purpose of this community is to allow LDS, newly LDS, and non-LDS the chance to ask their questions of the other community and possibly LDS members here. Questions should be of a sincere nature, and all discussion should be free of negativity and lack of respect. We allow all others to worship as they may, but ask respect for our beliefs even if they differ.
